95年的英语考研真题个人总结

本文总结个人在练习95年英语考研真题时,遇到的一个难点。

做阅读理解,在快速地完成通篇大概的理解之后,关键在于对局部内容的精准把握,不要代入个人的偏见,一定要忠于原文内容。对局部内容的精准把握,要求对其所使用的某些关键单词要精准理解,特别是一些常用的词的不容易遇到的含义。比如95年的题中,对develop的理解,有患病的含义。干扰项有的时候非常具有迷惑性,深吸一口气,忠于原文的含义,选择best选项。

upon介词的含义:根据,接近,在。。。之上

在一般情况下,upon 与 on 可互换使用,但在某些习惯用法中不能互换,如:once upon a time

upon /əˈpɒn/ CET4 TEM4

1.  PREP If one thing is upon another, it is on it. 在…上 [文学性]

例: He set the tray upon the table. 他把盘子放在桌上。

例:He bent forward and laid a kiss softly upon her forehead. 他俯下身,在她的前额温柔地吻了一下。

2. PREP You use upon when mentioning an event that is followed immediately by another event. 一…就 [正式] [PREP -ing/n]

例: The door on the left, upon entering the church, leads to the Crypt of St. Issac. 一进入教堂,左侧的门就通往圣以撒之墓。

3. PREP You use upon between two occurrences of the same noun in order to say that there are large numbers of the thing mentioned. …又… [n PREP n]

例: Row upon row of women surged forwards. 一排又一排的妇女向前涌去。

4. PREP If an event is upon you, it is just about to happen. 即将发生 [文学性] [PREP pron]

例: The long-threatened storm was upon us. 那场预示已久的暴风雨即将来临。

例: The wedding season is upon us. 婚礼旺季即将来临。

 

develop 有患病的意思

develop不仅有 :发展,开发 的意思,还有“患病”的意思,为及物动词。eg:He seems to be developing an illness.他好像得病了。

The rats develop bacterial infections of the blood, as if their immune system -- the self-protecting mechanism against disease -- had crashed.

n. fear of the unknown or unfamiliar or fear of making decisions

bombard /bɒmˈbɑːd/ TEM8 ( bombarding, bombarded, bombards )

1.  V-T If you bombard someone with something, you make them face a great deal of it. For example, if you bombard them with questions or criticism, you keep asking them a lot of questions or you keep criticizing them. 连珠炮似地提问; 不断批评

例: He bombarded Catherine with questions to which he should have known the answers. 他不停地追问凯瑟琳他本该知道答案的问题。

2. V-T When soldiers bombard a place, they attack it with continuous heavy gunfire or bombs. 连续轰炸

例: Rebel artillery units have regularly bombarded the airport. 叛军的炮兵部队经常炮轰机场。

 

multitude /ˈmʌltɪˌtjuːd/ CET6 TEM8 ( multitudes )

1. QUANT A multitude of things or people is a very large number of them. 大量 [QUANT 'of' pl-n]

例: There are a multitude of small, quiet roads to cycle along. 有多条可以骑自行车的僻静小路。

例: Addiction to drugs can bring a multitude of other problems. 毒瘾会带来其他许多问题。

2. PHRASE If you say that something covers or hides a multitude of sins, you mean that it hides something unattractive or does not reveal the true nature of something. (被掩盖的) 种种丑恶

3. N-COUNT You can refer to a very large number of people as a multitude. 一大群人 [书面]

例: ...surrounded by a noisy multitude. …被吵吵嚷嚷的一大群人围着。

4. N-COUNT-COLL You can refer to the great majority of people in a particular country or situation as the multitude or the multitudes. 大多数人

例: The hideous truth was hidden from the multitude. 向大众隐瞒了丑恶的真相。

preoccupation /priːˌɒkjʊˈpeɪʃən/ TEM4 ( preoccupations )

1. N-COUNT If you have a preoccupation with something or someone, you keep thinking about them because they are important to you. 关注

例:Karouzos's poetry shows a profound preoccupation with the Orthodox Church. 卡鲁佐斯的诗歌表现出对东正教的深切关注。

2. N-UNCOUNT Preoccupation is a state of mind in which you think about something so much that you do not consider other things to be important. 专注

subsequent vs. consequent

consequent [ 'kɔnsi,kwənt ]

adj. following as an effect or result

"the period of tension and consequent need for military preparedness"

在英语中,代词的指代通常遵循“就近原则”
